Conversion of former hotel complex into a fully digital NUMA hotel
The latest NUMA facility in an unbeatable central location in Hamburg
Berlin, June 8, 2022 – The NUMA Group (https://partner.numastays.com), Europe’s leading digital hotel operator and technology developer, is the new operator of a PATRIZIA hotel in Hamburg. Previously operated by the Accor Group under the Novotel brand, the 185-room, 370-bed complex will be the largest in the NUMA portfolio. Located at Lübeckertordamm 2 in the St. Georg district, the property is close to Hamburg’s famous Alster Lake, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, and the city center.
Over the next few months, a comprehensive conversion program will reposition the property, ensuring that it caters to the most discerning of modern guests. The 185 apartments will have average floor plans of around 30 square meters and will be equipped with the stylish modern design features closely associated with the NUMA brand. The building will also include communal areas. A long-term lease has been agreed with PATRIZIA and the official opening is scheduled for Q2 2024.
Vincent Lampe, Transaction Lead for Value-Add Hospitality Acquisitions DACH at PATRIZIA: “As a pioneering institutional investor in the residential sector, PATRIZIA prides itself on continually identifying new areas of the market that allow us to expand our alternative residential strategy. Serviced apartments have proved to be extremely resilient under the pressure of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in direct comparison with the traditional hotel industry. We are certain that this innovative approach to housing will experience strong demand across Europe for years to come, in particular from young professionals and digital nomads. It is a sector that is set to grow.”
Vincent Lampe adds: “This change in operator and business model allows our experienced asset management team to replace a classic hospitality concept with future-proof, technology-driven serviced apartment offerings, with NUMA the established market leader in the field. Our collaboration with NUMA will create a high-quality, customer-oriented product with leaner operating cost structures and a more flexible business model in an important European growth market.”
Dimitri Chandogin, Managing Director of NUMA Group, explains: “Adding another location in Hamburg allows us to significantly expand our range of high-quality, fully digital NUMA hotels in the Elbe metropolis. The conclusion of the lease and the subsequent commissioning of such a large property is another milestone for NUMA and underscores the institutionalization of the alternative accommodation segment and Commercial Living as an asset class. Patrizia’s confidence confirms our approach, which offers a contemporary and in-demand alternative to traditional hotels, benefiting from evolving consumer behavior, societal megatrends, and the general economic recovery after the pandemic.”
